Directions
Liarn Farm is very well signposted, just off the B846 road
from Kinloch Rannoch to Rannoch Station. It is some 60 miles
(56km) north of Perth, and .around 30 miles west of Pilochry.
By road
From Pitlochry, travel north out of town and take the B8019
west to Tummel Bridge, the B846 through Kinloch Rannoch and
onward for around 6 miles. The cottages are on the right.
From Inverness take the A9 all the way south to the turnoff
for Trinafour, some 10 miles south of Dalwhinnie. Follow this
road through Trinafour, turning right there onto the road
to Kinloch Rannoch and Rannoch station.
From Glasgow take the A/M80 north to Stirling, remembering
to bypass the city and follow the signs for Inverness which
will take you on to the A9 north. Once you have passed the
signs for Pitlochry, look out some 9 miles on for the exit
west to Calvine and the A847 to Kinloch Rannoch.
From Edinburgh – take the M90 to Perth outskirts where
you will follow the signs for and join the A9 north to Inverness.
Bypass Pitlochry and proceed as for Glasgow above.
From Aberdeen – take the A93 road via Ballater, Braemar
and Glenshee to the A924 turn-off at Bridge of Cally, for
Kirkmichael then head west to Pitlochry. Proceed as for Pitlochry
above
From Dundee – take the A90 to the outskirts of Perth
then proceed as for Edinburgh above
By rail
Rannoch Station on the West Highland Line, some 10 miles form
Liarn, has a regular daily connecting service with all the
major Scottish cities. And a daily express service to and
from London King Cross and intermediate stations in the south
stops at Pitlochry station.
In addition a great way to travel, without really noticing
the length of the journey – is the Caledonian sleeper
which operates daily except Saturdays all the way from Fort
William to London, and calling at Rannoch Station.
By coach
Local bus and coach operator Broons Buses operate a regular
daily service to Rannoch Station from Kinloch Rannoch, and
from Pitlochry bus station to Kinloch Rannoch Ask the coach
driver to drop you at the end of the road for Liarn Cottages.
There is also a daily post bus service all, the way from Pitlochry
to Rannoch Station.
